An idle brewery game is a business idler with a beer theme: you own the brewery, not the pint. In Idle Distiller Tycoon you start with one small still, brew and sell your first batch by tapping, and reinvest the cash into a second line, then a third. Each line has a manager slot. Fill it and that brewery keeps earning while the app is closed, so the game turns from tapping into checking in. That is the idle part. The brewery part is the theme you look at while the numbers climb: copper stills, bottling lines, a crew of brewers with opinions, and a corrupt mayor who would like you shut down.
If you have played AdVenture Capitalist or Idle Miner Tycoon, the loop is familiar: buy, upgrade, automate, hit the milestone multipliers, prestige into the next season. What is different here is that the theme carries a story told in comic strips, and that events run almost constantly with their own short economies and leaderboards.
The brewery tycoon phase is where most of the game lives. Every season is a new town with a new set of businesses to unlock. Early lines brew beer; later lines distill spirits and, further on, run vineyards, so the same buy-upgrade-automate loop plays out across a whole drinks industry rather than one product. Milestone multipliers at set business levels are where income jumps, so the strategy question is always which line to push first and when to spend bottle caps (the manager currency) on a better manager instead.
Seasons are the prestige layer. When you complete one, lifetime upgrades and your collected characters carry forward; cash and business levels reset in the new town. Players who like idle games for the long game rate this highly, and players who want one endless run should know the reset is coming.

Reviews on both stores single out three things. The storyline (a new chapter every season, a mayor who keeps escalating), the events (players say one is nearly always running, each with its own goals and rewards), and the fact that once a line has a manager you can leave the game alone for a day and come back to a stack of earnings. The one complaint that comes up: the guided opening runs long for genre veterans. Nothing requires payment to finish a season.

I mostly leave it open whilst working and gaming and hit those bottle cap ads and seagull when they pop up. Regardless, I’m super hooked. The frequent side events are a great way to increase the longevity of the game because I focus on those instead of the main questline. I’ve found my new time waster! The min-maxer in me can’t stay away from ensuring I run every brewery as efficiently as possible.
This is a proper idle game, not like the ones which claim to be idle games but which actually require huge amounts of constant gameplay. The graphics are pleasant, the storyline is amusing, events are simple and add to the game rather than add to the complexity of the game.
I'm on Season 23 and this game still has my interest with the stories and events. For me, the stories change the dullness other idle games have had.
